MANDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2017 – Farewell Party

·         6:00 PM Farewell Patty. (cost included in your entry/crew fee)

 

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2017 – Departure St. Petersburg

·         8:00 AM TO 8:30 AM Champagne Farewell on the Docks. (cost included in your entry/crew fee)

·         10:00 AM St. PetersburgHabana Regatta starts. (cost included in your entry/crew fee)

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1, 2017 – At Sea

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 2, 2017 – Welcome Havana, Cuba

·         All Day Receiving the vessels.

·         2:00 PM Lunch at EL ALJIBE Cuban government-owned restaurant known for baked chicken, rice and black beans. (This restaurant can hold up to a maximum of 300 persons. If there are more persons in the delegation, we would send them to a similar type restaurant in close proximity.)

·         4:00 PM Check in at HOTEL NACIONAL or MELIA COHIBA.

·         6:30 PM Depart Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         7:00 PM Dinner at a Paladar (private sector restaurant) LA DIVINA PASTORA. These Paladars are in walking-distance to the Morro Castle. Depending on the size of the delegation, some may lunch at other restaurants in the area like LOS 12 APOSTOLES.

·         9:00 PM MORRO CASTLE cannon ceremony. A Cuban cultural ceremony is the “9:00 PM firing of the Morro Castle’s cannon” every day at 9:00 PM.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2017 – Ernest Hemingway Themed and Welcome Party

·         All Day Receiving the vessels.

·         7:00 AM Full breakfast at Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         9:00 AM Tour of places Ernest Hemingway made famous: AMBOS MUNDOS HOTEL (where he had a private room and legend has it where he wrote To Whom the Bells Toll), EL FLORIDITA bar and LA BODEGUITA DEL MEDIO. By Hemingway’s own account, he said, "My mojito in La Bodeguita del Medio and my daiquiri in the Floridita."

·         12:00 PM Lunch at LA TERRAZA in Cojimar Fishing Village. Ernest Hemingway's favorite government-owned restaurant (ate there when he was staying at his farmhouse in Finca La Vigia – the Lookout). Depending on the size of the delegation, some may lunch at other restaurants in the area like EL AJIACO.

·         1:30 PM Visit to FINCA LA VIGIA, Ernest Hemingway’s home in Cuba, which is now a government-run museum and where he wrote The Old Man and the Sea. His famous fishing boat captained by Gregorio Fuentes “THE PILAR” is now literally housed in his backyard! The protagonist in The Old Man and the Sea, “Santiago,” was patterned after Hemingway’s boat captain Gregorio Fuentes.

·         3:00 PM Back to Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         4:30 PM Depart Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         5:00 PM Welcome Party for competitors, family, friends, and guests at HEMINGWAY MARINA. (cost included in your entry/crew fee)

·         9:00 PM World-renowned TROPICANA CLUB show and review – “Paradise Under the Stars.”

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 2017 – Morro Castle Regatta

·         7:00 AM Full breakfast at Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         8:30 AM Captain’s meeting for the Torreon de la Chorrera Regatta and Nautical Parade. (cost included in your entry/crew fee)

·         11:00 AM Nautical Parade and Torreon de la Chorrera Regatta. (cost included in your entry/crew fee)

·         5:00 PM Arrive at Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         7:30 PM Depart Hotel Melia Cohiba (only for people hosted on Melia Cohiba).

·         8:00 PM Sit-down dinner in a private ballroom – “SALON 1930” in the Hotel Nacional with music and dancing for the entire delegation.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 5, 2017 – SPYC “Havana Cup” Award Ceremony

·         7:00 AM Full breakfast at Hotel Nacional or Melia Cohiba.

·         8:00 AM Day trip to VARADERO region. Pleasant two–hour drive through quaint town Matanzas. Visit to MARINA GAVIOTA VARADERO – The largest marina in the Caribbean.

·         12:00 PM Lunch at KIKE Y KCHO Paladar. Depending on the size of the delegation, some may lunch at other restaurants in the area like MANTION XANADU.

·         2:00 PM Depart Varadero Beach for Havana.

·         6:30 PM Depart Hotel for dinner and awards ceremony at HEMINGWAY MARINA.  

·         7:00 PM Dinner and Awards Ceremony of St. Petersburg–Habana and Torreon de la Chorrera Regattas. Possible guests will include: the United States Ambassador to Cuba, Cuban Foreign Minister, among others. (cost included in your entry/crew fee
