2017 New Years Eve in Cuba


NEW YEAR EVE

(FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2017 TO TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2018)

DAY 1 – FRIDAY – DECEMBER 29, 2017

·       5:00 AM Check in Tampa International Airport, Southwest, Flight WN3952, Airside Red.

·       7:00 AM Depart International Airport.

·       8:15 AM Arrive at Jose Marti International Airport, Havana and clear customs.

·       8:45 AM Welcome by Havanatur Tour Guide.

·       9:00 AM Transfer to Trinidad, the third town founded by the Spanish Crown in Cuba in 1514. Trinidad is an architectural jewel proclaimed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The colonial red tiled roofs atop pastel stucco structures line the cobbled streets. Eighteenth century smugglers and pirates made frequent calls here or even used this port as their base of operations in the Caribbean, but the wealth and importance of Trinidad continued into the 19th century, when sugar barons reigned.

·       12:30 PM Lunch at Sol y Son Paladar, a private sector restaurant known as a Paladar. The term “Paladar” originated from the Brazilian soap opera aired in Cuba, Vale Tudo, as it was the name of the main character’s restaurant chain. Hopefully we will meet Luis, the owner, he is a young 30 year-old entrepreneur who owns two restaurants in Cuba!

·       3:30 PM Check In at Iberostar Gran Hotel Trinidad.

·       4:00 PM Time at leisure.

·       7:00 PM Diner at Vista Gourmet, a state owned restaurant. The slickest of the town’s private restaurants is perched on a lovely terrace above Trinidad’s red-tiled rooftops and run by the charismatic sommelier Bolo. Among many novelties are the free cocktails on the 'Atardecer Forever' roof terrace.

DAY 2 – SATURDAY – DECEMBER 30, 2017

·       7:00 AM Full breakfast at Iberostar Gran Hotel Trinidad.

·       9:00 AM Day trip to Ciefuegos. Cienfuegos is a charming waterfront city situated on the bay of the same name. Its picturesque nautical setting has earned it the title, “the Pearl of the South,” a description that has endured for centuries. The unique culture in Cienfuegos is attributed its ancestry as a French enclave. City highlights include an architecturally noteworthy group of buildings that were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

·       10:30 AM Visit Castillo de Jagua, an imposing fortress built to protect Cienfuegos from menacing pirates, is widely recognized as one of Cuba’s most important military structures. Legend has it the castle is haunted by ‘the Lady in Blue’, a ghost in a blue brocade gown.

·       12:00 PM Lunch at Palacio del Valle

·       2:00 PM Tour to El Nicho waterfall, located between Cienfuegos and Trinidad. The picturesque cascade, surrounded by lush vegetation, is an extension of the Topes de Collantes Natural Park.

·       4:00 PM Back to Hotel.

·       4:30 PM Time at leisure.

·       7:00 PM Dinner at leisure (will make recommendations).

DAY 3 – SUNDAY – DECEMBER 31, 2017

·       7:00 AM Full breakfast at Iberostar Gran Hotel Trinidad.

·       8:30 AM Check Out Iberostar Gran Hotel Trinidad.

·       9:00 AM Tour to the spectacular Valle De Los Ingenios - Valley of the Sugar Mills - an UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site where we see the ruined hulls of 19th century sugar estates. During the 19th century there were more than 40 sugar mills with elaborate estate houses but now most are in ruins. Chat with villagers in Manaca Iznaga while enjoying a glass of cold mango juice.

·       12:00 PM Lunch at Ranchon Valle de los Ingenios.

·       2:00 PM Transfer to Havana City.

·       5:00 PM Check In at Hotel Nacional.

·       5:30 PM Time at leisure.

·       7:00 PM New Year's Eve Special Buffet Dinner at “La Varanda” Restaurant in Hotel Nacional

·       10:00 PM Dancing Party at Ballroom 1930 in Hotel Nacional with live musical groups. 

 

DAY 4 – MONDAY – JANUARY 1, 2018

·       9:00 AM Full breakfast at Hotel Nacional.

·       10:00 AM Walking tour of Old Havana, designated as world heritage sites by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

·       12:00 PM Lunch at CAFÉ DEL ORIENTE, an elegant state own restaurant in Old Havana.

·       2:00 PM Tour of Revolutionary Square. The world-famous plaza where Fidel Castro gave many speeches and Pope Juan Pablo II and others Popes presided over a mass with a million Cubans in attendance.

·       3:00 PM Visit Almacenes San Jose to buy souvenirs.

·       4:00 PM Time at leisure.

·       7:00 PM Dinner at leisure (will make recommendations).

DAY 5 – TUESDAY – JANUARY 2, 2018

·       7:00 AM Full breakfast at Hotel Nacional.

·       9:00 AM Art walking tour to The National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana. The National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana) is a museum of Fine Arts that exhibits Cuban art collections from the colonial times up to contemporary generations.

·       12:00 PM Lunch at AMOS, a Photo Gallery and Paladar.

·       3:30 PM Check in Jose Marti International Airport, Southwest, Flight Number WN3953.

·       6:05 PM Depart Jose Marti International Airport.

·       7:05 PM Arrive at Tampa International Airport.
